Here's what we learned and loved about our little one this past month...

Sleeping // He has started waking up in the middle of the night again at 2 or 5am to eat. We try to make sure he consumes as much as possible during the day, but he is pretty clear on his signals and I don't want to force anything. I think he's just growing fast and getting hungrier. No big deal!

Eating // He still eats lots of formula and baby cereal, and he's starting to get used to fruits and veggies (especially fruits). He wants to try EVERYTHING we eat and put his mouth on everything else (especially paper and plastic wrappers... I think he likes the noise). Such a weirdo. We definitely have to baby-proof and watch him carefully now! It's so cute and fun though seeing him grow and explore his world.

Clothing // He's now 16 pounds and 27 inches... I think. It's been a couple weeks since his last appointment. To me, he feels like a good 20 pounds and he needs to wear 9-12 month clothes.

Milestones // I hated milestones until, of course, he started hitting them. He can roll like a champ, sit up on his own, scoot across the floor and pull himself up in the crib. He has one and a half teeth and he won't stop growing, no matter how much I beg him to stay little. He has also discovered his penis which makes bath time hilarious. And he talks... A LOT (without saying real words, of course)!

The above photos were actually taken in February when he was 5 months. New ones (just taken on my birthday last week) are below (and there's tons of kissing, you've been warned). If you're my Facebook friend, you've already seen many of these. Thanks for letting me share!

Lessons :: Baby Update / 5.5 Months

 photo IMG_20150302_101634.jpg

Here's what we learned and loved about our little one this past month...

Sleeping // Tremaine is actually sleeping more now! He still sleeps through the night but is taking 30-60 min naps during the day instead of the 10 minute ones he was doing last month.

Eating // He still loves rice cereal and oatmeal, and is still unsure about his fruits and veggies. It's really cute. He makes a weird face but then wants more! He eats a lot at once but not as often now. He has at least 8 oz of formula per feeding.

Clothing // Trey was 14.6 lbs and 26 inches at his 4-month appointment, but now that he's almost 6 I feel like he's doubled in size! He has another checkup in a couple weeks so we'll see. He can barely squeeze into his 6-month clothes and size 3 diapers!

Milestones // I really freaking hate milestones, but I have to pay attention to them because my doctor always asks. I just feel like they're pointless. As long as a baby's healthy and happy, who cares if he develops slower than other babies? I guess I'm defensive about it because he's barely rolling over and can't sit up on his own yet. I don't care until I get asked about it, and then I start worrying. I know there's nothing wrong with him, but it sucks that the pressure to achieve goals is already put on people as an infant. Can't we just go with the flow? I'm proud of him for being as active and charming as he is.

Lessons :: Baby Update / Four Months

 photo baby_loudmouth_stephanie_shar_mom_blog_3.png

Here's what we learned and loved about our little one this past month...

Sleeping // Our sweet Tremaine Michael is OFFICIALLY sleeping through the night!! He easily sleeps 7-10 hours straight, from about 10pm to 7am. Of course, this means that he rarely sleeps during the day now. Funny how it's totally flipped from when we first brought him home four months ago! He'll usually take a little "cat nap" every couple hours for 10-20 minutes. It's not very conducive for working at home, so we're still considering daycare but I don't think I'm ready yet. Fortunately, Brandon and I take turns during the day and then B's mom helps with nights and weekends. Also, he is a VERY well-behaved baby while awake. We can just plop him on the floor and he can play by himself for hours. It's adorable.

Eating // Sadly, I dried up very quickly after pumping, supplementing, and getting back on birth control. We are pretty much exclusively using formula now; I can barely squeeze out an ounce of breastmilk per day. It was harder than I thought it would be to wean myself off of breastfeeding him and there was a good week where I felt blue, but fortunately he can't even tell the difference. We are still cuddling, playing, and bonding in other ways. One of my favorite things to do is take a bath or shower with him -- so much fun! Also, we have given him his first taste of baby food! He has tried oatmeal, bananas, squash, and even green beans... he makes faces like he's not sure about it, but he still swallows. It's so fun entering a new stage of his life, but I'm already mourning those first sweet weeks when he was so tiny.

Clothing // Trey is still long and lanky like his daddy and I were at his age; he's starting to grow out of his 6 month onesies and size 2 diapers! I still have not had to buy any clothing yet because we have so many hand-me-downs and gifts from the showers. Once again, I have to say that we are very blessed.

Likes // When we pull up his arms to help him stand, watching Disney Jr (especially Handy Manny), listening to music (especially Calvin Harris and Sam Smith), playing on his mat with his animal friends, being read to, pooping, walks outside, sleeping with his head face-down in the couch, snuggling with anyone who will touch him, sucking down 6-9 ounces at a time, getting his belly tickled, being "flying baby", the Uncle Grandpa "good morning" voice, car rides, warm baths, trips to Target, his paci when he's tired, and tummy time (when he's not wet, hungry or tired).

Dislikes // Lemon juice (haha), being too hot or too cold, getting his nose picked or nails clipped, and tummy time (when he's wet, hungry or tired).
